Au nord de l’île de Sumatra, dans l’océan Indien, les îles Nicobar portent encore les stigmates du passage du tsunami de décembre 2004, provoqué par un séisme d’une magnitude de 9,3 sur l’échelle de Richter. Sur les interminables plages de sable fin, des fondations en béton nu d’anciens bâtiments se dressent encore face à la mer.
